Working here at West Side ENT since the practice started, I went from knowing nothing about a medical office to taking on the challenges of managing the office. The support I receive from my team members allows me to be who I am today. Throughout the years I’ve learned the nuances of the insurance so that it does not jeopardize patient care. There is a tremendous amount of room for growth in this practice.

As an employee of West Side ENT, I have not only learned valuable skill but I have grown as a healthcare professional. My role began as an Administrative Assistant learning the details of being organized in an efficient manner for Dr. Park and our patients. I have learned that the small details of listening to our patients from the moment they call our office to reminding them that we will be available any time they need us is very important. My role has evolved into a Patient Coordinator. This role has allowed me to see my job as a vital part of serving people on a more individualized basis where I take every step to ensure they are not only receiving the attention they deserve but they feel confident that they are being provided with the adequate treatment to be a healthier individual. Our patient's feedback is of utmost importance to us because our goal is to ensure that we constantly take measures in improving our services.

I started working here at Westside ENT quite recently and after obtaining the position, I quickly realized that working here would not be the same as at any other medical office. As a pre-med student I not only get the opportunity to interact with our patients, but I also get to shadow Dr. Park in the examination rooms. The experience and knowledge that Dr. Park and my team members impart help put into perspective what lies ahead for me. At Westside ENT I get to learn while working and I also help the team by ensuring that we deliver the best healthcare possible for our patients.

In October 2007, I decided to apply for a job as a part time medical assistant at West Side ENT. As a recent high school graduate with little work experience, I never expected to get the job. Through a combination of luck, some determination, and a little bit of wishful thinking on my part, I somehow managed to get the job, and I can honestly say that it truly changed my life. I now spend fifteen hours a week working and learning from my experiences at the office during my off time from school (as opposed to just laying around, watching TV, and basically being non-productive during that time). During my time here, I have learned how difficult running an office can be, how to interact with patients, and I’ve even been allowed into the treatment room to shadow Dr. Park, an experience that has been eye (and nose) opening. Doctor Park has given me the chance that many premed students my age only dream of.
